But seriously, I wish we had a good way to compare how "feeling normal" feels for other people, vs. ourselves.

I think the natural state of man is to be fully awake normally. You shouldn't get tired at all during the day unless you're doing some sort of excessive exercise. Why on earth would that not be true, if you weren't starving? Certainly that's how I remember I felt, back in the day, and I don't remember being considered excessively energetic. Quite the reverse in fact. I rarely did anything that didn't look like fun, and I was really bookish. But I always had the energy when fun was to be had. I haven't felt like that for at least fifteen years.

For sure, I am old now, but I actually don't think many people are like that any more. Even the young seem weary. Some curse has settled on us. Obviously I think it's polyunsaturated fats, but there's definitely something up.
