Heart Attack Keto: Rebound
Refeeding Syndrome? I can't even tell if I did the water-weight thing or not

So on Sunday the 20th of August I had a cricket match to umpire, and there was tea. And that tea involved sausage rolls and then a couple of very large meringues. And also some gin.
So heart-attack-keto ended at around mid-afternoon that day.
And an hour or so after the meringues, I actually forgot to count the balls in the over. The scorer had to tell me that there'd already been eight legal balls. At that point I thought there were still three to come.
I'm normally pretty good at counting the balls. I mean, I am a maths graduate, and I’ve played cricket my whole life on and off. Usually umpiring, because if you’re a crap opening batsman you get to do a lot of umpiring.
Counting to six is a core skill. I usually maybe get one seven-ball over in a game when something interesting happens and I forget to pocket a stone.
I wasn't drunk. I'd had a couple of gin and tonics at that point. OK they were stiff ones.
And that evening, I was more tired than I would have believed possible. I couldn't stand up for more than a few minutes, and I left the pub where all my friends were drinking and talking happily and went to bed without saying goodbye, because I hadn’t got the mental strength to speak.
Weirdly I then cycled home fine.
I think this is the "refeeding syndrome". Apparently a fairly well known effect of going without carbs. And apparently ten days without carbs is enough to cause it.
On the Monday I woke up feeling a bit woozy, but cheered up pretty speedily after a coffee and was fine all day.
And then on Tuesday I woke up fine, and then later went into a state of totally exhausted lethargy that lasted all day. I missed my chess club! I was too tired to face playing.
Since then I've been pretty good. In fact, unusually energetic and enthusiastic, which I would have attributed to ketosis if I was in ketosis.
A repeat of the pizza experiment went well. As did some porridge. And various bits of toast. Carbs seem to give me energy now.
Weight-wise I got a huge spike of about a kilo and a half the first couple of days. I would think that that was regained water-weight. Totally expected.
Except that it all then went away again, and on 25/08/2023 I recorded a new low of 93.2kg. Which is slightly lower than the lowest reading during the heart-attack-keto period.
And then the day after it all came back again.
Eyeballing my graph, I could believe that heart-attack-keto had no effect except to stabilize my noisy weight measurement for a ten days, while the mysterious trend of continuous slow weight loss continued unaffected.
I don't know if there was water-weight loss. I don't know if I was in ketosis at all. I certainly didn't get any kind of energy boost like ex150ish gave me. I don't know why not eating carbs would stabilize my weight.
I do know that it caused "refeeding syndrome", or something that could easily be mistaken for "refeeding syndrome". That seems kind of odd if there was no water-weight loss.
I am confused. I notice that I am confused.
That is most confusing! Although some people on the r/saturatedfat reddit describe basically this with TCD - once sufficiently resaturated (which might not've taken too long for you), they can eat carbs and maintain weight, or even lose. Maybe you're doing the "fat burns in the flame of carbohydrate" thing?
