So, if I may be permitted a recap, around the beginning of May I decided that my weight was now stable at around 97.5kg and that I should have a go at ex150ish again, this time with fruit.
And even before I'd actually started doing that, just while I was running down my previous food supplies, my weight fell off a cliff.
I then started adding other foods back in, first chips (steak fries), then ice cream, then crème fraîche and sour cream, then ice cream and ice lollies.
And my weight continued to drop, and I felt in excellent health throughout.
And then on July 2nd I put bread back in there, and ate three small loaves of bread in six days.
And I started to feel hungry, and my weight started to climb, and I started to get really sluggish and brain fogged. And I didn't notice at the time but my blood pressure started to climb.
So I was like 'fuck bread'. And I dropped the bread and, assuming that the protein in the bread was the problem, decided to try ex150ish-swamp, and just eat any old thing that didn't have protein in it, apart from the usual 1kg of beef every week.
And it's been really hot again, so I never did try rice, or mashed potatoes like I'd planned, but I did find lots of cold things that contain carbs but no protein, like ice lollies, ice cream, orange juice, honey, frozen red fruit in big bags, and Lyle's golden syrup1.
Which really isn't much different from the menu on ex150ish+fruit+chips+sour-cream+crème-fraîche+ice-lollies+ice-cream, so I was expecting to just go back to normal.
And it has made no bloody difference at all, I have continued to feel really tired, lots of afternoon naps, overheating horribly and sweating all the time, headaches, weight rising rapidly, and blood pressure now through the roof and frankly scary high2.
The tiredness and overheating have been much worse in the heat, in the evening once it cools down or on the occasional cold day I've been feeling fine. I seem to have started to recover lately, but on the other hand the temperature has dropped quite a lot this week.
So I am totally mystified.
One thought is that about 1.5kg of bread over a week has managed to totally fuck me up for nearly two weeks, which seems a bit unlikely, it's not like I don't normally eat bread.
Another thought is that my long term metabolic improvement continued and accelerated a bit, but I didn't drop my thryoid dose fast enough and have been hypermetabolic. That would actually explain most of it, but it wouldn't explain the weight gain.
Partially Inverted Sugar Beet Refiner's Syrup, normally a name like that would make me recoil in modern-chemical-food-terror, but it's basically innocent artificial honey as far as I can tell.....
170/100/54 this morning!! I’d normally expect about 140/80/55
You ate a lot of carbs. That's why you didn't lose weight. That would be my guess.
The mysteries. They continue.
