My only sin this week against my protocol ( https://theheartattackdiet.substack.com/p/ex150ish-definition ), I think on Friday 19th, was to have a steak and salad in the Fort St George for lunch one day for social reasons, which would have blown my protein budget since it was around 250 grams of beef. I don't think it actually matters because there's still plenty of beef left in my everlasting stew so probably over the last two weeks I have actually eaten about 2 kilos of beef.
It was a really great steak, it's rare to get a commercial steak as good as I can cook myself, well done Fort! I would have thought that that was a sign of protein deficiency but Kate had a bit too and said it was as good as I thought. The tiny piece of burger I got in return was also very good. Sam the dog got the gristly bits and wolfed them, he likes going to the Fort.
My weight's been dropping like a stone, and unlike the previous attempts it doesn't seem to be showing signs of bottoming out after two weeks.
The last two days it's been 92.2 kilos. Even allowing for 1.5kg of water-weight, that's terrifying. Two weeks ago the seven-day moving average was 97.3 kilos. So probably three and a half kilos of genuine weight loss in two weeks.
I believe it too, apart from the scale readings my trousers are looser, my belt's come in a couple of notches and I look obviously less fat in the mirror.
And it makes sense CICO-wise. I've got no appetite at all. I'm eating small amounts of beef-and-tomato stew/curry/goulash. They taste delightful but I've got no urge to eat much more than a few spoonsful. I'm occasionally taking a spoonful of cream and that tastes nice too, but I don't want any more.
I've just thrown away six whole pots of double cream, which were bought at the start of this but have gone off in the fridge because I'm just not been interested in eating them.
Thyroid dose has continued its slow drop, but doesn't seem to have been affected by this.
The clarity and energy I was expecting from ketosis have come, but the periods of clarity have been alternating with periods of fatigue that are worse than usual. That's not at all like the last time.
And I've been getting headaches. Minor headaches, which can be fixed with my usual cocktail of ibuprofen and paracetamol and caffeine, but headaches nevertheless.
I was getting headaches when I was at home too, so that may or may not be anything to do with ex150. It wasn't a problem with the previous bouts. I am a bit suspicious that there might be sulphites in the malt vinegar in my pickled cabbage. I have stopped eating it and that does seem to have helped.
I would be quite happy to carry on eating ex150ish for another couple of weeks, but frankly I am a bit scared by the rapid weight loss and the fact that nothing is quite as I remember. So I'm going to can the experiment after exactly two weeks, as planned.
Yesterday (22nd) I quite deliberately had a glass of milk in a café. No noticeable effects, in fact yesterday was a day of great clarity and energy, which ended with a film (Civil War, highly recommended) and a glass of vodka afterwards.
Weight up a kilo this morning. Seems a bit much for one glass of milk's worth of lactose.... That didn't happen with the accidental one last week.
As I write (23rd) I am having a second glass of milk. Also I am taking keto-electrolytes.
Hopefully this will provoke a slow gentle recarbing instead of the usual thing where I eat a load of carbs and knock myself flat for a couple of hours. No effect so far from my glass of milk. Might have another one in a bit.
If you have excess heavy cream, whip and freeze it. If frozen unwhipped the texture will change. Leave some plain and some with vanilla and sweetener (if those fit the rules).
How are you preparing the double cream exactly? Something I never quite grasped from the blog posts about it.
