Agreed on the saturated fat, not on the salt.

You say "Salt tastes really good. All food is better for it. Animals will risk their lives to get it."

This is more nuanced. If you give animals the same continues amounts of salt that modern humans eat, they will quickly run into problems. I agree that salt tastes good when mixed in with other foods. It makes all food addictive and cravings will come.

Here is an experiment you could do : if you really think salt is important for a human (I think : yes for human children and sweating adults, no for non-sweating adults): try licking it seperatly instead of mixing it in your food (as animals do) and see how it affects your food intake.
